Assessment
This past week, I feel, was filled with many interesting headlines, some more subtle than others. A story that I found the most interesting, happened this morning when a gunman took the principal hostage at a N.Y. school. The 40 year old suspect’s name has not been revealed, but we do know that he was a former student of the Stissing Mountain High School in Pine Plains, New York. The gunman did not fire any shots during the standoff with police. No one was injured, but police are still investigated the motive of the gunman. The gunman is in custody.
I find this story captivating, but not surprising. I’m not surprised at the fact that this took place because I feel like more and more, we see this kind of thing happening in schools all over the country. Not only in high schools, but especially on college campuses. People taking things into their own hands, which ultimately leads to violence. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but that’s not always the outcome.
